While politicians rehearse speeches, these men and women carry scars that don’t trend. They’ve seen what it costs to keep a flag flying. They’ve lived what the rest of us just post about.

Respect isn’t performative. It’s owed.

Many Easy Company soldiers waited in Austria to be discharged at the end of the war, but at least they had some delicious beer to comfort them.
