Let's talk about some common house plant pests. 🦠🪰
Fungus Gnats-
These are probably the most common houseplant pest. They are small dark colored flies, often confused with fruit flies which are slightly lighter brown in color. The gnats are drawn to damp conditions and have a larvae stage which live in the soil.
Mealy Bugs-
Mealy bugs are visible to the eye, appearing as white fluff. They are often found in joints and on leaves. They suck the plant’s sap and the excrement produced is a sticky substance that can be seen on the plant. It's slightly shiny and sticky to the touch.
Thrips-
Thrips are known for being one of the trickiest pests to eradicate and are easily spread from one plant to another. The adult thrips are 1-2mm long winged insects, however you may also spot the wingless larvae which are light yellow in color.
Spider mites-
Spider mite damage will appear as yellow or brown mottling on the upper side of a leaf, caused by piercing of the underside of the leaf in order for the pests to suck the sap. In heavily infested plants you will spot webs and the mites themselves.

🪴🪨Have you ever heard of a Lithop?
They also go by a super cute nickname, "living stones". This plant is a succulent so it requires bright sunlight to thrive. Lithops can also take early morning direct sunlight, be careful though, they can also sunburn before they are fully hardened to direct sun.
💧 Watering can be very tricky with this unique plant.
Since lithops evolved in a dry, hot climate, and they have thick, fleshy, water-storing leaves, it stands to reason that they require only minimal irrigation. Here are a few points to remember when it comes to watering lithops:
The plants should be kept almost completely dry during the winter.
Only begin to consistently water them after they’ve split open and the new set of leaves has begun to develop in the spring. The plant can then be given a small amount of water every 10 to 14 days using a small watering can.
Then, slow down the watering in the heat of the summer, during the plant’s second dormancy.
Begin increasing the frequency of irrigation again in the autumn, when the plants come into flower.
Their growth is largely focused on the autumn, and that’s when they require the most water.

Scindapsus Exotica
With the large flashy leaves and trailing vines, this plant is absolute 👑 royalty.
Exotica can handle indirect lighting and low lighting (low lighting will stunt growth speeds). Best to avoid direct exposure to the sunlight.
This plant LOVES humidity, so for best results and to keep leaves from curling in, never let the soil dry completely. Water once the top 3 inches of soil feels dry.
💧 Water: once a week during summer months
Once ever two weeks during winter

As true for most succulents, the Jade plant prefers to be very snug when planted. You only need to repot once every year or so depending on growth.
💧 Water: Once a month during winter months, and twice a month during summer.
