Happy Prevention Tip Tuesday! Check out this insightful information on the affects of opioids on the human body that was shared by Community Partnership of the Ozarks.
PREVENTION TIP TUESDAY! CPO helps create resilient children, healthy families, and strong neighborhoods by focusing on PREVENTION! Many people are prescribed opioids out of medical necessity, but they can still be dangerous and addictive. Misuse of these medications — such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, and morphine — is rampant. Happy Prevention Tip Tuesday!
Ni****ne pouches are the latest evolution of non-combustible products. They have been marketed as an appealing alternative to spit to***co because there is no need to spit (like with chewing to***co), and the pouches do not produce odor, smoke or v***r.
Because of their smokeless, odorless features, many people believe that these ni****ne pouches are a safer alternative to ci******es. But don’t be fooled. A 2022 study of 44 ni****ne pouch products found that 26 of the samples contained cancer-causing chemicals and several other chemicals such as: ammonia, chromium, formaldehyde, nickel, pH adjusters, and ni****ne salt. Most concerning, ni****ne pouches contain high levels of ni****ne which is incredibly addictive and harmful to young people in any form.
Recent studies released in 2023 showed 400,000 youth in the U.S. reported currently using ni****ne pouches, which is double from 2021. A concerning trend is that ni****ne pouches are so addicting, 73% of young people who have tried ni****ne pouches are currently still using them.

Happy Prevention Tip Tuesday! Check out this insightful information on va**ng and ni****ne that was shared by Community Partnership of the Ozarks.
Happy Prevention Tip Tuesday! Did you know that people who both v**e and smoke ci******es are four times more likely to develop lung cancer than people who just smoke ci******es?
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide killing 1.8 million people in 2020 (1.19 million men and 607,000 women), more than the combined number of deaths from the next four high ranking cancers (breast, prostate, colorectal cancer, and pancreatic cancer caused 1.5 million deaths in 2020). Thousands of published independent studies underscore the dominant role of cigarette smoking in the genesis of lung cancer. Estimates of attributable risk suggest that approximately 87% of lung cancers develop due to chronic to***co smoking. Ni****ne itself, which is found in v**es, is extremely addictive and a powerful vasoconstrictor that acutely increases blood pressure and heart rate, depresses respiratory function, and suppresses the immune system as well as having toxicological effects on fetal development during pregnancy.
