Will "The Thrill" Racing

On our last day at Indy last weekend we stopped at Indy Speedway and checked out the updated museum. WOW!!! If you like speed and ever have the chance, GO!! We couldn’t even tell we were in the same museum as before.
I even got to KISS the BRICKS! 💋🧱🏁

9th place! Top 10 @ New Castle for Will "The Thrill" Racing!! 🏁📈

🚐 Will threw his name in the hat 🎩 for his new Red Slide Cadet class club night race at New Castle Motorsports Park this weekend and showed some pace and race craft in a big step up in class size and kart speed, and did GREAT, the final started at 1:10am, what!?

Will has done great at his home track in his new cadet class winning 3 out of 4 races, but like kid kart he has to be able to do it at any track so it’s time to pay our dues and learn this new class

Qualifying: Will got quicker each practice, passed a kart in qualifying and then got held up some and ended up 17 out of 23 karts which was pretty good first time there

Then the skies opened up and it got crazy with rain ☔️ and wind 💨

Pre-Final (dry): Didn’t quite bunch up to the pack on the start and fell from 17 to 22 in the first turn (good lessons) - he started battling and made some awesome passes and finished 15th 📈

With the weather delay and a long schedule of racing, Will’s final didn’t start until 1:10am!! 🫣

Final (dry): 2 start wave offs and then when they did start he dropped back a few spots again towards the end of the field (we’ll work on it!) - but battled back AGAIN like a champ in dark, slick conditions and worked his way through the field and finished 9th!!! It was so awesome to watch him get after it at 54mph!!

Sunday: GREAT times with Brady Morgan who took some laps in the #111 Cusick Morgan Motorsports special and did awesome also!! He was so ready to get back on track! Good times with new friends, scooter rides, and peeling rubber of tires 🛞

Cup Karts North America North Rd. 3 @ Norway Motorsports Park recap:

With the CKNA North Championship on the line, there was plenty of speed for the #111 Coyote Motorsports Kryptonite claiming P1 pole position BOTH days 🏆 and going purple multiple sessions in a field separated by tenths 💪🏼 the Lawson Speed Shop power was hummin!

Saturday: Heat 1 & 2 winner 🏆

-playing with his friends, Will took a soccer ball to the eye with his glasses on right before the final, we iced it the best we could be he did not have any fire in him going out in the final on pole - by the 2nd corner he went from 1st to 4th. A few laps later he pressed a little too hard and spun trying a move and finished last - he was devastated for sure knowing what was on the line 😢 but he still had a shot Sunday

Sunday: Only way to win the Championship was to win the final

Heat 1: finished 2nd after starting on pole

Final: kept 2nd place on the start which was huge - the leader and Will developed a nice gap over 3rd & 4th and the shootout was on.

Will made a great pass for the lead down the backstretch and defended the inside, but going into the hairpin the outside kart turned down into Will which resulted in a failure to leave room to race penalty on them, but both karts were taken out of the lead of the race.

All Will could do was watch the field, the race win, and championship win go right by him. (Video in comments)

We were all devastated for him with the pace he showed all season and how hard he tried, he was consistently the kart to beat - it’s so hard to open that helmet full of tears, but he will have his day!

This championship gave us our share of bad luck and then some being taken out of 2 different races while leading, and 2 other penalties that were called warnings also affected our points. BUT, it is better to have been in position to win a championship and lost it then to have not even been a factor; it was a heck of a drive, dude 🏁
