A little boutique hotel in Europe.
A cruise where you actually get dressed up for dinner.
Or a few days on a beach with absolutely nowhere you have to be.

Whatever romance looks like for the two of you, there’s a trip for it. 🤍

My Alaska clients are taking my advice: don’t stop at the 7-night cruise.

Last month, I booked two 10-day Denali cruisetours and a 15-night Fairbanks-to-Vancouver cruisetour with Princess — and I love seeing more travelers choose to experience Alaska beyond the coastline.

This destination being one of my favorite places of all time, I love recommending a more in depth vacation if you have time.

You get deeper into Alaska, experience Denali, travel by rail, stay at the Princess wilderness lodges and see a side of the state you simply can’t experience from a cruise ship.

Not everyone needs 10 or 15 days in Alaska. But when my clients tell me this is a bucket-list trip and they want to do it right, I almost always tell them to look beyond cruise-only.

And lately, they’re taking my advice. 🏔️

Four countries—and I only have to unpack once.

On a typical trip through Switzerland, France, Germany and the Netherlands, I’d be coordinating trains, checking in and out of hotels and moving my luggage every few days.

On Avalon Vista, the ship does the moving for me.

I’ll go to sleep in one destination and wake up somewhere new, with the route taking me from Basel to Amsterdam through places like Strasbourg, Rüdesheim, Koblenz and Cologne.

I’m interested to see whether river cruising really delivers that balance: experiencing several destinations without making the trip itself feel exhausting.
