Sangamon County residents will have an opportunity to apply for a passport this Saturday during a special Passport Registration Day at Lincoln Library.

Passport agents from the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk's Office will be on site from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at Lincoln Library, 326 S. 7th St. in Springfield, to process passport applications. Standard passport fees will apply, and current processing times are available through the U.S. Department of State.

Applicants should bring a certified copy of their birth certificate (no photocopies or hospital certificates), a valid photo ID, and certified copies of any court orders related to a name change, custody or adoption. Passport photos can be taken on site, and applicants should bring two checks or money orders to cover the applicable fees.

If you are unable to attend, passport services are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk's Office, excluding weekends and court holidays.

Sangamon County Government offices will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

Offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 8.

What a great evening celebrating the opening of a new art exhibit now on display on the second floor of the Sangamon County Building.

In partnership with the Springfield Art Association, the exhibit features work by local painter and glass blower Jason LaBonte.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this exhibit to life and to all who attended the opening reception.

The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular business hours at the Sangamon County Building, 200 S. 9th St. in Springfield. Exhibits at the County Building rotate quarterly, giving local artists, organizations and collections an opportunity to share their work with the community.
