September’s Slow Viewing takes place Thursday, September 17 at 6 p.m. at Brick City Gallery. Street parking and free public lots are available nearby.
This month we’ll join facilitator Shauna LeAnn Smith to explore a work from “Crossroads.” Slow Viewing is a free, supportive practice for anyone interested in building skills in interpretation, observation, and discussing art. Guests spend an hour looking closely and talking together, gaining a deeper understanding of how they connect with the artwork.
In October, this program will reach a new audience at the 2026 Missouri and Kansas Environmental Education Association Annual Conference. Museum Educator Joshua Best and Shauna LeAnn Smith will lead participants in a Slow Viewing experience of a publicly sited artwork at the Kauffman Foundation Center, highlighting how mindful engagement with art fosters connection to place under the conference strand “Relationships that sustain us: Land, Place.”
