Responsibilities include operating the 24/7 hotline and online crisis chat, maintaining shelter security, assisting with crisis intervention, and helping residents with daily needs.

Meet our new 2026–2027 BSW Connect Cohort Leaders! 🐻

BSW Connect is an intentional part of the Missouri State University BSW Program designed to help students build relationships, connect with their peers, and feel part of the Social Work community throughout their educational journey.

This year, these Cohort Leaders will be supporting our newly admitted Online and Seated BSW cohorts. The experience looks a little different across our two program options. Online BSW students participate in smaller peer groups supported by Cohort Leaders, while our Seated BSW Cohort Leaders help encourage communication, connection, and activities across the newly admitted seated cohort.

Whether students are learning on campus or completing the BSW Program online, BSW Connect provides opportunities to develop meaningful peer relationships, build community, and strengthen their connection to the program.

These leaders join the broader group of student leaders who help support students throughout the BSW Program.

On Tuesday, students in the seated BSW Program had the opportunity to visit The mOther Road: The African American Experience on Historic Route 66 exhibit, accompanied by Professor Dudley and Dr. Brown.

The exhibit explores the people, places, and experiences that shaped African American life along Historic Route 66, including the contributions and stories of African American communities in Springfield and the surrounding region.

The exhibit is facilitated by Dr. Ximena Uribe-Zarain, Professor in the School of Special Education, Leadership, and Professional Studies, and Dr. Lyle Foster, Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Gerontology.
