Song of Songs - Song of Songs, also known as the Song of Solomon, is not technically a book. It’s a love song between two lovers—and it works on two levels. Song of Songs is celebrating human desire for intimacy and pointing to humanity’s ultimate purpose: to be united with God and his wisdom.

SETTING - Every story takes place somewhere, and locations often have a special meaning evoked by past events in the same location. We call these locations settings, and biblical authors use settings to meet the reader’s expectations—and mess with them. When we pay attention to locations and time in biblical stories, we can unlock deeper layers of meaning.

Individual stories across the Old and New Testaments have been coordinated through repeated words and parallel themes. These patterns highlight core themes of the biblical story and show how it all leads to Jesus.

TaNaK - Old Testament - Did you know that the arrangement of the Old Testament in Protestant Christian Bibles is not original? Along with all ancient Jewish people, Jesus encountered the Scriptures as a three-part collection of scrolls known as the TaNaK, an acronym for the three large subcollections of the Hebrew Bible: Torah (Law), Nevi’im (Prophets), and Ketuvim (Writings).
