FLASHBACK FRIDAY 💙
A lot of people ask how Made Wright got its name and how this organization even started.
The story actually starts with our founder, Tia Mahr, and her grandfather, the late Joseph Louis Wright Sr.
Growing up, one of Tia’s earliest memories was watching her grandfather save change in a lion cup with the MGM lion on it. At the time, it may have seemed small, but looking back, those moments planted the seed for lessons in saving, discipline, financial literacy, and building for the future.
Those memories later inspired the very first Made Wright youth program called Jr. Lions Den.
The Jr. Lions Den program was created to teach youth financial literacy in a fun and engaging way while also introducing entrepreneurship and leadership skills. It was designed to give youth access to knowledge and life skills that are often not taught enough in underserved and urban communities.
Made Wright was built on the idea of QUALITY over quantity. Creating real impact. Creating opportunities. Creating experiences that help youth believe in themselves and their future.
What started as one program has now grown into multiple programs, community events, youth initiatives, and opportunities that continue to serve families throughout our community.
And through it all, the mission remains the same:
To inspire futures the Wright way.

During the Made Mentoring Kids Gardening Club, youth learned all about planting seeds, the importance of gardening, and how growing your own food takes patience, care, and teamwork. The kids proudly planted lettuce seeds and officially started their gardening journey.
Even with the rainy weather, the youth showed resilience, stayed positive, and kept going strong. Sometimes the best lessons happen in the middle of the storm.
A huge thank you to Northside Church of Christ NSCOC for partnering with us and providing a space for this amazing program. We also want to thank KidsGardening for sponsoring this opportunity for our youth.
We are excited to continue learning, growing, and seeing what this harvest will bring. 🌱

There were times we had to make something out of nothing, but our community kept showing up and helping us grow.
