Big plans for the future of the Illinois State Fairgrounds!

The Illinois Department of Agriculture and Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln recently released a master plan for the Fairgrounds, which identifies opportunities to increase year-round events, attendance and economic impact. Creating a vibrant Town Square, adding a hotel and constructing a new 200,000-square-foot multipurpose venue as a signature building are some of the big ideas in the plan.

The Next 10 began in 2020 as a collaborative community engagement effort to help define how we take bold steps together for the region’s future. The Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln has partnered with Springfield Sangamon Growth Alliance and The Storyteller Studios to highlight the efforts and progress made in deliberately reinvesting in the Springfield region.
