Mayor Rob Rue was honored to read a proclamation at tonight's City Commission meeting declaring May 9, 2026, as Letter Carriers’ Food Drive Day in Springfield.

This annual effort, led by the National Association of Letter Carriers, is the nation’s largest one-day food drive and helps stock local shelves for neighbors in need. Last year alone, Springfield residents donated 14,500 pounds of food and $2,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank.

On Saturday, May 9, residents are encouraged to place non-perishable food items in or near their mailbox for pickup by their letter carrier. Every donation stays local and makes a direct impact in our community.

Thank you to our dedicated letter carriers and everyone who supports this important cause. Together, we can help feed our hungry neighbors.
