Oregon Livestock Council
Oregon Livestock Council is a non-profit livestock response organization providing evacuation and sheltering for livestock owners in Oregon during disasters.
We do not self deploy and are closely affiliated with EM, Law Enforcement, Posses, & Fire.
We do presentations to community and youth groups around the state about preparing for your WHOLE family—including your animals. Let us know if you’d like to book a presentation! 🐴 🐮 🦙 🐑 🐐 🐰 🐝
Red Flag Warnings are dangerous combinations of wind gusts, minimum relative humidity, and critically dry fuels resulting from warm, dry weather.
These conditions create an environment where any spark can quickly become a fast-moving wildfire.
The Governor has declared a statewide emergency due to the imminent threat of wildfire in Oregon, highlighting the elevated fire danger facing communities across the state.
Help Prevent Wildfires
Please use extra caution with any activity that could ignite dry vegetation:
🔥 Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass. Hot exhaust systems can start fires.
🔥 Secure trailer chains and equipment that could drag or create sparks on roadways.
🔥 Delay welding, grinding, cutting metal, or other spark-producing activities if possible.
🔥 Never toss ci******es or smoking materials from a vehicle.
🔥 Check local regulations before debris burning and ensure all outdoor burning is completely extinguished. Note: outdoor debris burning is closed across Oregon.
🔥 Use caution with campfires and outdoor recreation. Make sure fires are dead out before leaving.
🔥 Maintain defensible space around your home by removing dry grasses and combustible materials.
🔥 Carry a shovel, water, and fire extinguisher when working outdoors.
If You See Smoke
Report it immediately by calling 911. Early reporting gives firefighters the best chance to keep a small fire from becoming a large one.
We all have a role in preventing human-caused wildfires. A few extra moments of caution today can help protect our neighbors, homes, businesses, and the natural beauty that makes Oregon special.

All Oregon Department of Forestry districts are now in fire season. This means that to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires, fire restrictions may be in place where you live or at a destination you plan to visit or recreate.

June is National Pet Preparedness Month. Prepare for disasters for ALL of your family members:
1. Make sure your pets have identification. Permanent is best—microchipping pets, freezebranding livestock. Accessory neck bands, animal paint and other temporary ID tags, etc. work—keep with go kits.
2. Go kits for each animal—toys, grooming items, 2 weeks of food, water and meds, leash/collar, crate or containment, something that smells like you.
3. Consider your pets when making evacuation plans—transport, location amenities, access to food, water and you.
4. Practice your plan with your pets.
