Flourish has had a busy week celebrating the start of a new school year! From recruiting new students for our Flourish Girls and BUILD programs at Pipkin Middle School to capturing those special first-day-of-school smiles at York Elementary School, we’re excited to be back in the schools we love. Here's to a great school year with lot's of exciting things to come!

The Heart of the Westside Neighborhood Summer Celebration just keeps getting better!

Our third annual celebration brought our largest crowd yet, and we had the best time enjoying crafts, food, bounce houses, and time with neighbors!

A special thank you to the incredible volunteers—especially the neighbors who gave their time to help set up and run the event. Your willingness to serve made this celebration possible. Flourish is grateful to be part of such an incredible community!

Summer should be filled with sleepovers, swimming pools, and carefree days.

But for many girls we serve, summer means uncertainty, adult-sized responsibilities, and carrying burdens no middle schooler should ever have to carry.

That's why they're counting down the days until school starts.

Because school means safety.
School means caring adults.
School means Flourish Girls.

This year, we'll continue showing up—week after week—to remind every girl that she is seen, known, and deeply valued.

We had the BEST time at Game Night this week in the Heart of the Westside Neighborhood! From delicious pizza and pie to fun games of BINGO and Uno, we love spending time with our neighbors!

We wrapped up the school year with an unforgettable Field Day for our Flourish Girls! From collaborative team-building games to some friendly competition, the day was full of fun and laughter!

This year with our 6th and 7th grade girls has been such a joy, and we are so excited for an even BIGGER year ahead as Flourish Girls expands to include 8th grade this fall!

Thanks to the Heart of the Westside Neighborhood Association, Passion Assembly church, our volunteers and the city of Springfield for their efforts to help keep our neighborhood a great place to live. Saturday was Clean-Up day in the Heart of the Westside. Neighbors brought oversized objects and debris to the site and a wonderful group of volunteers assisted in offloading into the dumpsters. Another successful Game Night in the Heart of the Westside Neighborhood last night! We are so thankful to all the residents who supported it, whether it was getting there early to set up or just simply showing up and playing with their neighbors! Flourish is proud to be part of this community!

This week, we had the joy of celebrating the incredible volunteers who help make Flourish what it is. Over lunch, we shared stories from across our programs and community outreach initiatives and reflected on the dedication and love our volunteers share with those we serve. We are so grateful for each person who gives their time and heart to build relationships and transform lives here at Flourish!

This week, we’re celebrating the strength and resilience of our neighborhood. From last year’s windstorm to this week’s hailstorm, the Heart of the Westside community continues to stand strong together.

We celebrated this week with a community cookout—sharing food and connecting with neighbors. Moments like these remind us that even through challenges, this neighborhood only grows stronger together.
