"The Weight of All I Am"
48”x36”
In this acrylic painting I examine the intense stereotypes of womanhood. A testament to the power of woman to bend, break, and rebuild ourselves for love, responsibility, and survival. Each of the hands symbolizes a role in her life. The woman has to be put together, a wife, a mother, have a career, make time for her hobbies and so on. The cracks do not indicate brokenness. Instead they symbolize markings of the exchange of giving so much of yourself. A statement on identity and resilience. The burden of balancing everything, and at the same time the beauty of trying to keep everything together. You can feel the strain in every fracture, but she refuses to fall apart. A portrait layered with vulnerability and power.
