🐾 It truly takes a community. 🐾

This week, we were reminded just how important the partnership between our residents and Animal Control Officers is in the work we do every day.

On Wednesday, Springdale Police Department received a call from a concerned resident about a possum that had been struck and killed by a vehicle. When one of our Animal Control Officers responded, she discovered something incredible—11 tiny joeys, often called “pinkies,” still alive in their mother’s pouch.

Thanks to her training, quick thinking, and compassion, every single baby was carefully removed and brought back to our shelter. Our team immediately gathered the supplies needed for tube feeding and worked to locate a willing and experienced rehabilitator who could provide the specialized care these little ones need.

Because a resident took the time to make a call, and because of the dedication and expertise of our Animal Control Officers, 11 young lives were given a second chance.

Animal welfare is truly a team effort. We are grateful for our community members who stay vigilant and report animals in need, and we are proud of the compassionate professionals who respond when those calls come in.

These 11 tiny joeys are a perfect reminder that even the smallest lives can make a big impact. ❤️

Blaze was found near Electric Ave. He came in thinking that he was the spiciest kitten ever! Now that he has been socialized he looovvess everybody. He is available for adoption now!!
