One of the biggest misconceptions about scoliosis:

It is not just a bend in the spine.

Scoliosis is a three-dimensional condition.

In addition to curving sideways, the vertebrae often rotate, which can create changes in shoulder height, rib position, posture, and overall body symmetry.

There are several different types of scoliosis, including:
• Idiopathic scoliosis (most common)
• Congenital scoliosis (present at birth)
• Neuromuscular scoliosis (associated with neurological or muscular conditions)
• Degenerative scoliosis (develops later in adulthood)

Because scoliosis can affect each person differently, proper evaluation is important.

No two spines are exactly alike.

June is Scoliosis Awareness Month.

Many people think scoliosis is simply a curve in the spine.
In reality, scoliosis is a complex condition involving changes in spinal alignment that can affect posture, balance, movement, and muscle tension.

Scoliosis is typically identified when the spine develops a side-to-side curve measuring 10 degrees or greater on an X-ray.

Some curves remain mild, while others can progress over time.
The earlier scoliosis is identified, the more options people often have to manage it.

Awareness is the first step.

Big news from our clinic family! ❤️

After 4 years of caring for our patients, making us laugh, lending a helping hand, and being an incredible part of our team, Josh is heading off to chiropractic school June 19th!

While it's hard to imagine the clinic without him, we are so excited to watch him chase his dream of becoming a chiropractor. His passion for helping others and dedication to patient care have always shined through, and we know he is going to do amazing things.

If you've had the chance to meet Josh, share a conversation, or have him be a part of your care, we'd love for you to stop by this week or next to wish him well before he starts this exciting new chapter.

Please join us in thanking him for the years of hard work, kindness, and commitment he's given to our clinic family. We are incredibly proud of you, Josh, and can't wait to see where this journey takes you!

Leave a comment below with your well wishes, favorite memories, or words of encouragement as he begins this next adventure. 🎉🎓❤️

Once part of our clinic family, always part of our clinic family.

Friends who straighten their spines together, stay together. 💙

These two dancers are proving that scoliosis doesn't have to stop you from doing what you love.

The journey isn't always easy, but having someone who understands the challenges, celebrates the wins, and encourages you along the way makes a huge difference.

Keep dancing. Keep growing. Keep supporting each other.

We're cheering you both on every step of the way.

This months spotlight is Dr. Edward!

Fun Fact: Dr. Edward loves working here to see how people grow and develop. Sometimes, watching others motivating themselves to improve, motivates me more, than I can myself.

His favorite part of my job is when people prove him wrong and reduce their scoliosis faster than he would assume!

During EDS Awareness Month, we want to emphasize something important:
Rehab should be individualized.

The right plan may include:
• stability work
• endurance training
• proprioceptive retraining
• controlled strengthening
• posture and movement correction
• progression based on response

The goal is not to punish the body.
The goal is to teach it better support.

If you’re dealing with hypermobility, instability, or chronic pain, message us to see whether an evaluation makes sense.

EDS is not one single presentation.

There are multiple EDS subtypes, and symptoms can overlap with other connective tissue disorders.
That is part of why diagnosis can be complicated.

Good evaluation matters.
Good history matters.
Good pattern recognition matters.

If someone has unexplained hypermobility, chronic pain, tissue fragility, repeated instability, or a strong family history, it deserves thoughtful attention.

One of the most encouraging parts of rehab:
People can build more control, more confidence, and more function than they thought was possible.

Not overnight.
Not with random exercises.
Not by ignoring pain.

But with the right progression, many people move from surviving their body… to understanding it and supporting it.
Small gains count.
They add up.

05/21/2026

EDS myth:
“If you are flexible, you should stretch more.”
Reality:
Many people with hypermobility need more stability, control, and strength — not endless stretching.
Mobility without control can feed pain and instability.

A better question is:
Can your body control the range you already have?
Save this post if that question changed how you think about rehab.

05/18/2026

A hard truth about EDS rehab:
Progress is often slower than people want — but that does not mean it is not working.

Early wins may look like:
• fewer flare-ups
• standing longer
• better posture
• more confidence
• less fear of movement
• more control in daily life

Real rebuilding often happens over months, not days.
Consistency beats intensity.
