This week we added the name DANETTE DAVIS to our "Worthy of Honor" wall. Danette was a REACH UP woman through and through. She overcame addiction before we ever knew her, and when we met, she jumped in: Writing articles; Getting photos: and making sure Hope Women's Center in Apache Junction was never without copies of the magazines. She did all of this while living with very little and battling serious health problems. She pursued her Associates of Biblical Studies. She worked at reconciliation with every member of her family. She gave, and gave, and gave. In May, the Lord called her home.
Danette's story is not rarer---it is what REACH UP exists for. There are thousands of women out there right now in the same place she once was, looking for exactly what this magazine offers: inspiration, truth, and kind of help only God can give. www.myreachup.org

“Where was Reach UP when I needed you?”
That sentence has been echoing in my mind.
Last week, our team had a booth at a conference that was different from our usual events. Instead of nonprofit leaders and ministry partners, the room was full of women taking courageous steps to improve their work situations. The event was sponsored by Dress for Success, and the attendees ranged from high school seniors to women in midlife, all navigating their own challenges.
As they streamed past our table playing “Booth Bingo,” we handed out the latest issue of Reach UP magazine and invited them to text to join. We also shared other small, free resources.
I couldn’t take photos, but the images are etched in my memory:
- A striking young woman in a beige hijab quietly taking a copy of the magazine.
- Women in polished corporate attire walking by with confidence.
- Others in their “best,” but noticeably well‑worn, outfits—doing everything they could to show up well.
- Younger women with bright eyes and hope for the future.
- Older women with eyes that looked weary from “the chase” and from life.
In the middle of all of that, two comments pierced my heart:
“Where were you [Reach UP] when I needed you?”
“I didn’t even know where to look for help. I needed this.”
At its core, that’s what Reach UP is about: placing a message of hope into the hands of women who may feel unseen, overwhelmed, or forgotten—women in apartments, shelters, programs, prisons, rehabs, and struggling communities. www.reachupmag.org
