The Lawn Geek Strategy

At Lawn Geek, we focus on stopping Poa Annua before it starts.

Our program includes:

✅ Pre-emergent w**d control
✅ Seasonal fertilization
✅ Soil health improvement
✅ Thick turf that crowds out w**ds

Because the best defense against Poa Annua is preventing it from germinating in the fall.
Using our full program and prevention strategy is key.

Forsythia Is Blooming — Here’s What That Means for Your Garden 🌿🌼

If you’re seeing bright yellow forsythia blooms around White County, that’s more than just a sign of spring — it’s a natural gardening calendar cue.

When forsythia blooms, it signals that we’re entering the window for late dormant pruning on certain plants.

🌹 Good Time to Prune:

✔ Hybrid tea and floribunda roses
✔ Fruit trees (if not already pruned)
✔ Summer-blooming shrubs (that bloom on new growth)
✔ Removing dead, damaged, or crossing limbs

🚫 NOT Time to Prune:

• Spring-blooming shrubs like azaleas, spirea, quince, or lilac
• These bloom on last year’s wood, and pruning now will remove this year’s flowers.

Let nature help guide your timing. Phenological cues like forsythia blooms are often more reliable than calendar dates because they respond to actual soil and air temperatures.

Spring is officially underway in White County! 🌿
