Timber Lakes Volunteer Fire Department

Timber Lakes Fire Department recently deployed one of our Type 1 Engines as part of TIFMAS Strike Team 208, assigned to the All Hazards Delta Group.

The strike team is currently assigned to the Hydra Fire near Meridian, Texas, supporting ongoing wildfire suppression efforts with providing structure protection for the City of Meridian, and working alongside firefighters and agencies from across Texas.

Our crews are honored to answer the call and represent Timber Lakes Fire Department and our community while serving alongside the Texas Interagency Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS).

Deployments like this are a great example of the strength of the Texas fire service. When communities need help, departments from across the state come together, bringing personnel, equipment, and expertise to where they are needed most.

Please keep our firefighters, along with all of the men and women working the Hydra Fire and other incidents across Texas, in your thoughts as they work to protect lives, property, and communities.

Tropical weather update 8/31/2026 @ 7:30 PM:

Tropical Storm Edouard has now formed in the Gulf. Our forecast hasn’t changed much with this update.

We still expect Edouard to make landfall tomorrow afternoon near the Texas Louisiana border.

As it moves inland to the northwest the forecast track is just east of Montgomery County but we remain inside the cone.

Heavy rain fall is possible with this system. Expecting up to 3-5 inches east of I45 with isolated pockets of higher amounts depending on actual track and if training rain bands set up over the county.

West of I-45 looks to be from 1-3 inches possible.

At this time please pay close attention to the forecast in the morning as any overnight updates will be current then. The morning update will likely be the last before landfall.

We are not forecasted to see significant winds with this storm. This will bring much need rain to the area but we could still see flash flooding.

For that reason we are under a flood watch from 1 am Tuesday morning through 7 am Wednesday morning.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Captain Castillo, a fellow member of our Montgomery County fire service family, following his courageous battle with cancer.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Captain Castillo’s family, friends, and our brothers and sisters in the fire service as they navigate this difficult loss.

🔥 Deployment Update 🔥

This week, the Timber Lakes Fire Department deployed Booster 142, staffed by one TLVFD member and one member from Tomball Fire Rescue, to assist with the Ross Wildfire in Palo Pinto County as part of Strike Team 200.

After arriving in Palo Pinto County, the crew went straight to the fire and immediately began working alongside other crews to help control the fire line at the Ross Wildfire.

Currently, several fire departments and agencies from across Montgomery County have personnel and resources deployed throughout Texas, assisting communities impacted by wildfires. Through TIFMAS (Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System), more than 500 assets are currently deployed across the state.

This is truly neighbors helping neighbors and represents what the fire service is all about—coming together to help those in need, wherever that need may be.

We are proud of all the firefighters, departments, and agencies answering the call and working together to keep communities across Texas safe.

School is back!

That means more kids will be out and about on our roads during the morning and afternoon hours. Please stay alert, pay close attention to your surroundings, and always obey posted school zone speed limits.

Slow down, stay alert, and help keep our kids safe!

School is back in session!

When you see a school bus slowing down or stopping, don’t just watch the bus; watch the entire area around it. Children may be waiting near the roadway or crossing the street as they board or exit the bus. Slow down, pay attention, and never attempt to pass a stopped school bus when its red lights are flashing and its stop arm is extended.

The illegal passing of school buses puts children, drivers, and everyone on the roadway at risk. A few seconds of patience could save a child’s life.

Put down the phone. Texting and driving are never worth the risk. That message can wait until your vehicle is safely stopped. If your vehicle has hands-free technology, use it, but your attention still belongs on the road.

Be especially alert in school zones. Slow down, plan, watch for children, and eliminate distractions.

The firefighters of Montgomery County see bad things happen to good people every day. The last thing any firefighter wants to do is respond to an emergency involving a school bus full of kids or a child being hit on the road due to a distracted driver.

Be smart. Slow down. Put the phone down. Pay attention. Our children are counting on you.

Did you know that the Timber Lakes Volunteer Fire Department has been proudly serving our community since 1969?

As one of Montgomery County’s long-standing volunteer fire departments, our members have always been committed to meeting the needs of the community, both on the fireground and in medical emergencies.

Here’s a piece of Timber Lakes history: Beginning around 1975 and through about 1983, the Timber Lakes Volunteer Fire Department operated Montgomery County’s first Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) ambulance. At a time when advanced prehospital emergency medicine was still in its infancy, our dedicated volunteers were helping bring lifesaving advanced medical care directly to patients in our community.

For more than five decades, generations of firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and volunteers have answered the call, responding to emergencies with professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to service.

We are proud of our history, grateful to those who built this department, and honored to continue their legacy of serving the Timber Lakes community.
