"You're cleared at 6 weeks. You're good to go!"
Except... you're not.
The truth about postpartum recovery:
Your body is still healing. Your hormones are still shifting. Your nervous system is still recalibrating. Your identity is still transforming.
6 weeks is a medical checkpoint. It's not the finish line.
Real recovery looks like:
✓ Months (not weeks) of physical healing
✓ A year or more of emotional integration
✓ Slow, messy, non-linear progress
✓ Needing support longer than you expected
✓ Your body being different than before—and that being okay
If you're months postpartum and still struggling, you're not behind. You're normal.
Recovery isn't linear. It's not fast. And you don't have to do it alone.

Summer quiet means your anxious thoughts get louder.
You're lying awake. Your mind is racing. You can't turn it off.
You need a reset. This is it.
The Micro-Regulation Reset—a 3-minute practice for when anxiety spikes:
Step 1: Name it (30 seconds)
Don't try to get rid of it. Just say: "I'm feeling anxious right now. My nervous system is in alert mode. That's happening."
Naming creates distance. It's not you. It's your nervous system doing what it's been trained to do.
Step 2: Ground in your body (90 seconds)
• Feel your feet on the floor
• Notice 5 things you can see
• Notice 3 things you can hear
• Touch something cold or textured
This brings you out of anxious thoughts and back into your body, which is actually safe right now.
Step 3: Permission (30 seconds)
Say out loud: "My nervous system is trying to protect me. And right now, we are safe. I don't have to figure everything out today."
Not: "I'm fine, I have nothing to worry about." (Your nervous system won't believe that.)
But: "I'm anxious. And I can be anxious and okay at the same time."
Do this every time anxiety spikes. Multiple times a day if needed. Your nervous system learns through repetition that it's safe to come down.

Some grief has no words. This practice helps.
If you're carrying loss, change, or missing who you were before, try this.
What you need:
Notebook or phone • 5 minutes • Privacy
What to do:
1. Start: "I haven't said this out loud, but I miss..."
2. Write without stopping. No editing. Just truth.
3. Read it back slowly. Notice how naming it feels.
4. Done. You don't have to share it or do anything else.
Try this tool once a week for a month. Notice what shifts.
Moving grief from your heart to outside you body, that's healing. You don't need to carry it alone.
