ATTN: Self-employed business owners

For those of you who are self-employed and track mileage, the IRS announced yesterday that we will have a "split" year for mileage expenses. For January 1 to June 30th, the mileage rate will be 58.5 cents per mile, however for July 1 to December 31 the rate will be 62.5 cents per mile.

For those who track medical or moving miles, the rates for January 1 to June 30th, the mileage rate will be 18 cents per mile, however for July 1 to December 31 the rate will be 22 cents per mile.

This means that you'll need to track your mileage separately for each period as each half year will have different rates. Please take note of your mileage on July1st.

This is your friendly reminder, please make sure your GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO IDs has your CURRENT ADDRESS and that it is UNEXPIRED.

The U.S. Patriot Act requires us to have this information on file.

What does this mean? We cannot use your "mama address" if that is not on your identification. It also means that even though we know who you are, there are strict rules in place we have to follow and face hefty fines for not doing so.

Thank you for your cooperation.

🗣 Business Owners,

It's time to spend money like it's the last month in 2020 because it is!😁

Do you have unpaid utility bills?
Need office supplies?
Do you need to do a food run?
Pay your insurance policy?
Website renewals?
Training and conferences?
New computers?
Equipment?

....otherwise have cash on hand and need to save in taxes? Go shopping! Spend that money!💰

No, you will not get a dollar for dollar deduction. Multiply however much you spend by your (marginal) tax rate to determine how much you can save.

I don't want to see you spend money just to spend if you don't need anything or can't afford it.

BUT if you have a legitimate need to spend and a legitimate need to save in taxes. Do it today!!
