🐾 NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH: PETS NEED A PLAN, TOO!

Emergencies can happen when we least expect them. Constable Mark Herman reminds residents that pets are family too, so make sure they are included in your emergency preparedness plan!

Keep a pet “go bag” ready with essentials such as food, water, bowls, medications, a leash or carrier, identification, medical records, comfort items, and a current photo of your pet.

Also remember to keep your pet’s microchip and ID tags updated, practice your evacuation plan, and identify pet-friendly shelters or hotels ahead of time.

🐾 Isley’s Story: A Little Help When It Mattered Most 🐾

For us, pets are more than just companions. They are family, and during times of uncertainty and change, they can be one of the few things that still feel like home.

This was true for Isley’s mom.

As a senior living on a fixed income, she was temporarily staying in a rental home with another family while waiting to move into her own apartment. Isley is her only pet, and during this time of transition, he was the one constant in her life.

Isley is a well-cared-for little guy, so he was already appropriately vetted for his age. However, he had recently begun marking in the house, and his mom was sadly faced with an ultimatum: have him neutered or find another place for him. The unexpected expense was more than she could manage at the time, and she feared she would have no choice but to rehome Isley.

That’s when she turned to the Help Me Keep My Pet Program.

Our team knew this was exactly the kind of situation where a little assistance could make all the difference.

Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to make Isley’s neuter possible. Instead of having to make the heartbreaking choice to give him up, his mom was gratefully able to get him the surgery he urgently needed.

During a period of financial and housing uncertainty, this assistance gave Isley’s mom one less burden to carry as she worked toward a more stable future.

And sweet Isley? He gets to stay with his mom, the only family he knows, and the person who adores him. ❤️

✅ Owned cats & dogs from 2 to 90 lbs. are welcome!
❌ Volunteers DO NOT get preferential treatment for sign-up, check-in, or check-out. The process is the same for all pet owners.
❌ We aren't able to fix puppies under 4 months old and kittens under 2 lbs.
❌ No pets older than 8 years old.
❌We DO NOT offer a vaccine/microchip-only clinic. Our focus is spay/neuter. ✂
❌ Flat-faced dog breeds (ex. Pugs, Boston Terriers, French Bulldogs, and English Bulldogs) and large breeds (ex. Great Danes, Cane Corsos, and Mastiffs) are not eligible for this event due to their specialized anesthesia needs.
