We have a lot of broody chickens and ducks this spring/early summer. We do not have any male ducks….so no fertilized duck eggs. We put a couple fertilized chicken eggs under our broody ducks. These two have nested together the entire time. Now they have two baby chicks. Anyone ever had ducks raise chickens?

We had a lot of broody hens this spring and early summer on the Gray Farm. We thought we were done and this momma decided she wanted some early winter chicks. We let her sit on 7 eggs and she hatched 6 healthy babies. She is a very protective and gentle momma hen.
