Nobody talks about what motherhood does to your nervous system. But it’s the foundation of everything - your patience, your sleep, your health, your presence. 💚
From pregnancy through postpartum through years of motherhood, your nervous system shifts into permanent high-alert mode. Constant vigilance. Always “on.” Someone always needs you. Your needs always last.
Your body was designed for temporary stress (deal with threat, return to calm). Not 18+ years of chronic activation.
When you’re stuck in sympathetic dominance (fight-or-flight):
-You’re exhausted but can’t sleep (tired but wired)
-You have zero patience left
-You’re irritable over small things
-You feel anxious even when nothing is “wrong”
-Your body won’t relax even when you try

This isn’t “just being a mom.” This is nervous system dysregulation. And it shows up physically: chronic tension, headaches, digestive issues, brain fog, exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix.

Constipation isn’t always about food. It’s about your nervous system. 💩
(And yes, this applies to babies, kids, AND adults)
If you’ve tried more fiber, more water, prunes, Miralax, probiotics - and NOTHING works consistently - you’re treating the symptom, not the root cause.
Your digestive system doesn’t run on food alone. It’s controlled by your nervous system.
Brain → Spinal Cord → Nerves → Digestive Organs
These nerves tell your stomach when to produce acid, intestines when to contract (peristalsis), colon when to push, and sphincters when to open.
When there’s interference in the your lower spine due to stress or tension:
-Nerve signals to digestive organs get blocked
-Peristalsis (the wave that moves food through) doesn’t work properly
-Your colon literally can’t receive the signal to contract and push
-More fiber just sits there because the nervous system can’t move it
What creates interference:
IN BABIES: Birth trauma, tension in sacrum/lower spine, underdeveloped vagus nerve tone, nervous system stuck in stress mode
IN KIDS: Falls, poor posture (desks/iPads), physical tension the in mid/low back, stress response
IN ADULTS: Years of poor posture, chronic stress (sympathetic overdrive shuts down digestion), physical imbalances and dysfunction, “holding it” too often
Specific and intentional adjustments to the spine (especially mid-back and sacrum) to remove the interference blocking nerve signals to digestive organs, restore proper nerve flow so peristalsis works, support vagus nerve function (rest-and-digest nerve), and shift the nervous system out of stress mode into “safe to digest” mode.
In our office, we commonly see:
BABIES: Regular poops (sometimes immediately after adjustment!), less gas and straining
KIDS: Going daily without laxatives, less stomach pain
ADULTS: Regularity without fiber supplements or medications
