Follow-up for everyone...the little bull calf that lost his mom is doing great. He took to a bottle like nothing ever happened and is enjoying all the extra love'n. What a cutie 😍

Having cattle is absolutely not for the faint of heart. An absolute rollercoaster of a day today here at the house. We were blessed with a beautiful and healthy bull calf this morning (JOY) and that joy was quickly robbed from us when his mom went to pass the placenta and pr*****ed. (Disappointment and worry). Despite our best efforts we were unable to get it back in so off to the vet she went. (More worry). They were successful! (JOY). Dusti made it home to discover the cow had torn her stitches, pr*****ed again, ruptured, and passed away on the way home. (Pure Heartbreak). We are 100% thankful for the healthy calf and the knowledge we acquired today but damnit these days are hard.

Calving season requires some late night trips out to the property and this time there was a pleasant surprise. Star blessed us with a little heifer calf! Red as can be, out of a black and white cow...genetics are weird. Lol

Sometimes when we say we're going to mend a fence this kind of stuff is included in that statement. Having cattle isn't all sunshine and rainbows. That was one big a$$ tree.

Such a wonderful morning as Buttercup welcomed this fella into the world! He and momma are doing great and he has already eaten. Babies are the cutest things ever! 😍😍
