6 years ago today I got my first Speckled Sussex girls (Bea & Betty)…today I got a text that the long-awaited SS girls were in stock at FF&H!! 1 hour later they were in my car! Not sorry about it! 🤣

These 3 new girls plus 3 more Isa Browns were just put under some broody hens…here’s hoping they all do a good job and I don’t wake up to a massacre tomorrow 🫣

Pivot is also spending his first night outside tonight…safe on the deck with a warm, comfy bed…but still…💔😭 He jumped out of the pack-n-play on Wednesday morning…so it was time! 🐐🛏️

Aaaaaand Frankie was moved into the birthing suite today!! Babies SOON!! 🐐🐐🐐

This little lap dog, I mean goat, is 4 weeks old today and weighs 9 lbs, 5.6oz. He’s crushing four 8oz bottles a day and follows us everywhere. We love him to pieces 💙

Mae is 4 weeks old today and has had a busy week socializing with Mom’s Club, homeschool group and today she made a trip to her namesake’s elementary school to visit the kids there!

She weighs 11lbs, 15.9oz & is still looking for her forever home! Do you know anyone that might be interested? Send them my way! She will be ready anytime after 7/1!!

Farm Updates:

First and foremost: Agnes is NOT pregnant! She must have lost her baby shortly after her blood test in January (& could have possibly absorbed it). We are so grateful there is not a mummy baby in there! 🧟‍♀️🐐 She is back out with her friends and out of the birthing suite!

Butterscotch is taking such good care of her 2 babies 🥰🐓🐥🐥

Pivot was disbudded yesterday and in one word, it was traumatic. 😮‍💨 The sweet woman that did it said in her 25 years she had never seen anything like it. What should have taken 10 minutes took 1.5 hours and it was touch and go. I’ll spare you the details, and just tell you all that now he is doing well ❤️ He has had LOTS of snuggles today!!

5/26: the teens move outside!! 🐣🤎🧡☀️

6 Welsummer (2 roos, 4 hens & named Grey’s Anatomy names) & 8 BCM (unsexed) will spend the next 9-10 weeks in the “quarantine area” before moving to the “condos.”

The only BCM that I KNOW is a roo is 💛💜…the rest are still keeping me guessing!! They are 5 1/2 weeks old…what do you think?? Roos or hens on those 8 BCMs??

Once I know for sure I can name them!! 🙌🏻 This group will be getting Shield of Sparrows names…think Odessa, Evie, Freya, Mae, Caspia, Xandra, Thora, Devney, Perry, Sparrow, Starling, Quentis 👏🏻👏🏻📚🤓

Something pretty cool happened yesterday (5/23)…one of our hens hatched a baby chick! I’ve never let them do this on their own before and it was such a fun surprise last night!! Butterscotch is a mother 🥰 One of Miracle’s eggs was pipped too…I have not checked since…but once this monsoon stops I will be out there checking again!! So fun 🐣

Pivot is 2 weeks old today and weighs 5lbs, 11.4oz (up 1lb, 11.9oz from last week!!). He mastered going up and down the stairs this week, has started to head butt and moved from 5 feedings a day to 4 😉

I wish Agnes would hurry up and birth him a friend…but for now he’s ok being a momma’s boy and following me everywhere 🥰

Ms. Mae is 2 weeks old today!! She weighs 8 lbs, 6 oz and is sweet as pie 🐐🩷 Growing like a w**d!!

Mr Pivot is 1 week old today!! He weighs 3lbs, 12.3oz (⬆️ 1lb, 2.7oz since birth). He is the sweetest little bottle baby 💙

This week he has gone on car rides, visited the bank, snuggled in the sun, helped w**d the garden, trotted all the way down our 700 foot long driveway to get the mail and then all the way back & had lots of visitors. He is slamming 3-4oz bottles every 3-3.5 hours during the day and sleeping quietly in his pack-n-play for 10-12 hours at night. He is still patiently waiting for Agnes to deliver him a friend!! We love him 🐐
