This Thursday, April 2 2026, is Holy Thursday also known as Maundy Sunday. It commemorates the events of the Last Supper.

Key Biblical Events of Holy Thursday:
The Last Supper (The First Communion): Jesus shares a final Passover meal with his disciples in Jerusalem, establishing the Eucharist by breaking bread and sharing wine as his body and blood.

Washing of the Disciples' Feet: Jesus washes the feet of his disciples, exemplifying humility and servanthood
The New Commandment (Maundy): Jesus commands his followers to "love one another as I have loved you".

Prediction of Betrayal and Denial: Jesus predicts that Judas will betray him and Peter will deny him three times.

Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane: Following the meal, Jesus goes to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray, where he experiences immense anguish before his arrest.

Arrest of Jesus: Judas Iscariot arrives with soldiers and identifies Jesus with a kiss, leading to his arrest.

Maundy Thursday, also known as “Holy Thursday,” is the Thursday of Passion Week, one day before Good Friday (the Friday before Easter). Maundy Thursday is the name given to the day on which Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples. It was also the day of His betrayal and arrest.
