BREAKING NEWS: A major step forward in the fight to end horse slaughter.

Today, the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed the bipartisan Van Drew–Titus Amendment to the Build America 250 Act — advancing key provisions of the SAFE (Save America’s Forgotten Equines) Act that would prohibit the transport of horses destined for slaughter for human consumption.

If enacted, this measure would strike at the heart of the slaughter pipeline responsible for shipping tens of thousands of American horses across U.S. borders every year.

The amendment was led by Representatives Jeff Van Drew, Dina Titus, Tim Burchett, Eleanor Holmes Norton, and Jimmy Patronis — another powerful sign that bipartisan momentum against horse slaughter is growing.

This moment is significant. Just weeks ago, we shared the shutdown of Bouvry’s horse slaughter plant in Canada. Now, we are seeing another crack form in the industry that has profited from the suffering of American horses for far too long.

To everyone who has contacted their representatives, signed petitions, followed our investigations and shared our reports, thank you. You helped push this issue into the national spotlight.

We are not done yet. But today, we take a moment to recognize the momentum building against the U.S. horse slaughter industry — and the possibility of finally shutting this pipeline down for good.

Hi Everyone! We wanted to let everyone know we have a new addition to Shady Hills Animal Rescue. Please meet Scrappy! He arrived Saturday and is a 2/3 year old Appaloosa c**t (soon to be gelding). He is currently 13.1 hands but still has growing to do. He is halter trained and stands when tied. Trailers well BUT needs to learn to lead. He is awful at that LOL.

This is my fox on my property. I do not mind him/her here. I feed it Pedigree dog food so it will not kill any.of my birds or other animals. I think it might add water to the food in a bowl and give it a flea pill and wormer so he is more healthier 😁😉🙃🫠🦊
