Chief 53-1 and LT 53-2 went to the York County Fire School today in Engine 53-2 to assist with the Fire Ground class. The students rotated through setting up the porta-pond and connecting hard sleeve for a draft.

• Run your air conditioning on recirculate if available.
• Consider wearing a well-fitting N95 mask if you must be outside for extended periods.
• Check on children, older adults, and those with heart or lung conditions, as they are especially vulnerable.
Even healthy individuals may experience eye irritation, coughing, or difficulty breathing during periods of poor air quality.

It is with profound sadness that the Hanover Area Fire & Rescue Commission mourns the unexpected passing of Fire Commissioner James Roth this afternoon.

Commissioner Roth was a true icon of the fire service whose dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to this organization and the community he loved have left an immeasurable legacy. His impact will continue to be felt for generations of firefighters, EMS providers, and the citizens we are honored to serve.

During this incredibly difficult time, we respectfully ask that everyone afford the Roth family the privacy and space they need as they navigate this tremendous loss. Funeral arrangements and service details will be shared as they become available.
