In preparation for TOMORROW’S CHAMBERFEST (!!!), we had the pleasure of running through our Children’s Concert and chamber concert at the Bayview Foundation Inc.! We had a wonderful time sharing this music with the Summer Study students and now feel like a well-oiled machine for tomorrow’s Fest!

Join us tomorrow at the Spring Green General Store at 11 AM for our Children’s Concert and at 12 PM for our chamber program, More-Than-Human!!!!

Our next *ARTIST SPOTLIGHT* is the brilliant Sahada Buckley! We’re so happy to welcome Sahada to the Spring Green General Store for the first time, where she will play viola in both the Children’s Concert and our chamber concert, More-Than-Human!

Sahada Buckley is a violinist, violist and inter-disciplinary artist whose diverse career has led to many meaningful collaborations. Sahada has collaborated with many notable classical musicians including faculty from UCLA, Michigan State University, and the Pro Arte String Quartet. Additionally, she has worked closely with acclaimed composers like David Ludwig, Michael Ippolito, Laura Schwendinger, Mason Bates, George Meyer and Will Healy.

Sahada received her Master of Music Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Mead Witter School of Music where she was a member of the prestigious graduate string quartet, the Marvin Rabin String Quartet. Sahada earned dual Bachelor of Music Degrees in Violin Performance and Music Theory from the University of Georgia where she studied with Levon Ambartsumian and Shakhida Azimkhodjaeva. She won first prize at the University of Georgia Concerto Competition performing Édouard Lalo’s Violin Concerto “Symphonie Espagnole” in 2018.

Sahada has participated in many summer music festivals including Midsummer's Music in Door County, Meadowmount School of Music, Atlantic Music Festival, and Decoda Chamber Music Festival. In 2023, she founded the Eastern Shore Chamber Music Festival, a month-long festival she runs in her home state of Alabama. She has performed in major venues across the United States and abroad in Brazil, London, and Singapore. Sahada plays viola regularly with the Ancora String Quartet. Sahada recently appeared with the Florentine Opera Company in Milwaukee performing the chamber opera María de Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla. An avid hiker, Sahada through-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2019 with a violin in her backpack.

Our next *ARTIST SPOTLIGHT* is our wonderful storyteller, Alys S. Dickerson! Come hear Alys create magic at our Children’s Concert this Saturday at 11 AM at the Spring Green General Store!

Alys Dickerson is a Master actor from Chicago, Illinois, by way of Indianapolis, Indiana. Alys holds her MFA from Northern Illinois University and has studied acting at the MXAT; Moscow Art Theatre in Russia. She is one of six siblings and loves faith, family and good food! Since the pandemic Alys has shifted her creative efforts to focus on conversations of change and racial fluency within the education programs at American Players Theatre. Roles she has slayed before are Lady Macduff in Macbeth, The Jewish wife in Fear and Misery, Antigone in Antigone and The Commissioner in Titanic the Commissioners Inquiry. John 3:30.

*ARTIST SPOTLIGHT* We are thrilled to welcome Vinicius Sant'Ana and his dazzling playing (captured here by local photographer Nath Dresser) back to the Spring Green General Store for his third ChamberFest! Don’t miss the chance to hear Vini on July 27th!

Brazilian violinist Vinicius Sant'Ana began his musical studies at age 12 at Grupo Pão de Açúcar Music Institute in Brazil. Named concertmaster of the Pão de Açúcar Orchestra at the early age of 16, Sant’Ana has performed with them in the major concert halls of Brazil and abroad including the Sala São Paulo, Teatro Municipal of São Paulo, and Cultura Artística Hall. In 2014, Sant’Ana made his Carnegie Hall debut as soloist with the Pão de Açúcar Orchestra. In all, he has concertized across four continents.

As a chamber musician and member of the Red River Trio and University of North Dakota String Quartet, he has toured China, Japan, the Czech Republic, Brazil, and the United States. Vinicius Sant’Ana has performed with leading Brazilian orchestras including the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, Mato Grosso Symphony Orchestra, and Municipal Theater Orchestra of São Paulo. He performs regularly with the Madison Symphony, La Crosse Symphony, Quad-City Symphony, and Dubuque Symphony. Vinicius was a founding member of the Griffon String Quartet, the string quartet in residence of Midsummers’s Music Festival in Door County, Wisconsin, where their primary goal was to provide music education to underprivileged communities while also bringing high-quality chamber music to Northeast Wisconsin.

A dedicated and passionate educator, Sant’Ana not only maintains a private teaching studio but also works with several teaching programs in the Madison area, such as Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras (WYSO) , Farley's House of Pianos , and Suzuki Strings of Madison. Previously, Vinicius served as a violin instructor for the Arioso School of Music and the Northern Valley Youth Orchestra in North Dakota. During his graduate studies, he served as Teaching Assistant for the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s Up Close & Musical® program, introducing K-3 students to the basic elements of music.

Vinicius Sant’Ana received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2016 from the University of North Dakota, where he studied with the Argentinian violinist Alejandro Drago. He then went on to earn his Master of Music degree in 2018 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Mead Witter School of Music under the guidance of Dr. Soh-Hyun Altino. He is the winner of the Sao Paulo Young Artist Competition, Grand Forks Symphony Concerto Competition, and the Bismarck Symphony Concerto Competition, among others.
