Urban areas can trap heat, making low-income housing dangerously hot. SNAP is partnering with the Gonzaga Climate Institute to combat this "heat island" effect by getting cooling equipment into the hands of vulnerable residents. Help us cool our city. Support the Cooling Fund now .org/cool

Bob Peeler spent 42 years serving neighbors through his work at SNAP, but his story starts long before he became an outreach worker. Having experienced periods of homelessness as a teenager, Bob brought empathy, respect, and hard-earned perspective to every relationship he built. From helping seniors with yard work in SNAP’s early neighborhood programs to connecting people experiencing homelessness with housing and hope, Bob believed that lasting change starts with trust. In this SNAP Story Project feature, Bob reflects on the people he met, the relationships he built, and the simple acts of kindness that can change a life. This year, SNAP marks 60 years of providing opportunities to people in need here in Spokane County. Please support our work if you can. Make a donation now .org/generous
