Meet Randal. From Spokane, he’s leaving SFCC’s Graphic Design program with five ADDYs from the American Advertising Federation🏅, a growing portfolio, and EWU up next.

His shoutout goes to Katrina Butler: “For pouring unimaginable amounts of effort into her students and always going above and beyond what’s expected of her.”

Favorite memory: His running gag, debating which classmate would win the Hunger Games if they took place on campus.

Finals survival song: Radio by Bershy.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage month but AAPI Heritage Month came a little late to SCC this year… Costume shipping had other plans. But it worth every minute of the wait. Over 120 people came out yesterday for drumming, dancing, and a fashion show that filled the room. Thank you to the SCC AAPI Club and every volunteer who made it happen.

Meet Koda. From Davenport, WA, finishing Agriculture Business AAS at SCC and heading straight into a career at HighLine Grain Growers Inc.

Shoutout goes to Cindy Deffé: "She has been very knowledgeable and helpful expanding my knowledge in the agriculture industry."

Campus secret: The food court has the best tater tots! (we can second that)

Finals survival song: It's a Great Day to Be Alive by Travis Tritt

When SFCC needed an advisor for the LGBTQ+ club, English professor Dr. Barbara Williamson stepped up.

She has since passed the torch, but her advocacy never stopped. She’s been a Grand Marshal of the Spokane Pride Parade, won a Rainbow Award for community activism, helped fight for the LGBTQ+ Center on campus, and watched her students go on to become teachers, counselors, and community members living openly in their own truth.

Her message this Pride Month: we see you, we’ve got you, and when you’re ready, we’re here for you.

The LGBTQ+ Center and the Alliance Club are open to all students. 🏳️‍🌈

Congratulations to our newly tenured faculty! 📚We recently celebrated nine faculty members whose dedication to teaching, learning, and student success has earned them tenure.

As Chancellor Kevin Brockbank shared, receiving tenure is "something that can never be taken away from you" a reflection of years of commitment, excellence, and impact.

A special moment of the celebration came when several of Brian Stack’s students surprised attendees by cheering him on from the second-floor gallery, a powerful reminder of the lasting connections our faculty build with students every day.

Join us in congratulating Amy Anderson, Angela Smith, Joshua Martin, Kacie Jones, Zachary Christman, Timothy Sullivan, Greg Bem, Andrea Cons-Diller, and Brian Stack on this incredible achievement! 👏
