🎶🎤 Concert by the Spokane Melody Singers! 🎵

Last week, the chapel was filled with music once again as the Spokane Melody Singers treated residents to a wonderful afternoon of inspirational and religious songs! The men's choir had several familiar faces among the singers, including Village President Ted Martin and former Riverview Board Member Tom Kennedy. It's always great seeing friends and community leaders take the stage while sharing their musical talents!

Thank you to the Spokane Melody Singers for spending the afternoon with us and reminding us of the power of music to bring people together. 🎶❤️

🎶 Riverview Presents: Roberta Bottelli and Sarah Bass 🎶

In May, residents and guests enjoyed a beautiful live performance in our chapel featuring cellist Roberta Bottelli and violist Sarah Bass. Playing some solos and as a duo, their blend of talent, artistry, and passion created a delightful afternoon that everyone enjoyed.

This performance was especially meaningful, as it was revealed that Roberta Bottelli is actually the daughter of resident Dee Morton, Riverview Presents' coordinator! It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both family and music while enjoying an afternoon of exceptional talent.

Thank you to Roberta and Sarah for sharing your music with us and making the day so special! ❤️🎻 And thank you to Dee for always coordinating the musical guests for these amazing performances!

Happy late birthday to all of our May birthday residents! 🏇🎩

Last month, Residents stepped into the winner’s circle at our Kentucky Derby-themed birthday party, dressed in their finest Derby attire and ready for an afternoon of fun. From elegant hats to dapper outfits, everyone brought their Derby spirit!

The celebration featured live western guitar music, delicious Derby Bar treats, and refreshing lemonade drinks—both alcoholic and non-alcoholic—to toast another wonderful year. Most importantly, it was a chance for friends and neighbors to gather, laugh, and create more great memories together.

Happy Birthday to all of our May birthdays! We loved celebrating with you and look forward to many more special moments ahead. 🧡💚🩵

Last month, we were honored to welcome Spokane's Mayor Lisa Brown to Riverview Retirement Community as a guest speaker for our resident-led discussion group, Defining Democracy! ✋

Mayor Brown shared insights on several important issues affecting Spokane today, including the city's efforts to address the affordable housing crisis and how housing development is evolving to meet the needs of our growing community. She also spoke about other current challenges and opportunities facing Spokane, and answered thoughtful questions from our engaged residents.

At Riverview, lifelong learning and civic engagement are important parts of community life. We are grateful to Mayor Brown for taking the time to visit, share her perspective, and participate in meaningful conversation with our residents.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this another excellent Defining Democracy event!

On Saturday, The Spokesman-Review hosted a successful Active Senior Living Expo, bringing together seniors, families, and industry professionals to explore regional resources geared especially toward people ages 55 and up.

During the event, Lisa Egger, Director of Sales and Marketing at Riverview Retirement Community, presented an informative session in the Willow Room titled “Understanding Life Plan Communities and Preparing for Retirement Living.”

The presentation focused on helping seniors and their families better understand the many senior living options available today, and why planning ahead is one of the most important steps before a health crisis forces a decision. Lisa explained how a Life Plan Community, also known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), provides a continuum of care that supports residents through every stage of aging. These communities offer independent living along with priority access to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, therapy, and wellness services, allowing residents to age in place with confidence and peace of mind.

A major theme throughout the presentation was the importance of researching and touring senior living communities early. Planning ahead allows older adults to fully enjoy community amenities, build meaningful relationships, and make thoughtful decisions about their future lifestyle and care needs.
