Together, we will pray for those who have lost homes, for first responders risking their lives, and for all who are working to bring relief, comfort and hope to their communities. A special letter from UCC President, David Jamieson: "Our hearts are heavy for those experiencing the trauma and tragedy of loss, evacuation, insecurity and uncertainty as fires continue to impact Spokane and other communities throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Currently, approximately 450,000 acres have burned in Washington State for the summer season, with over 250,000 acres actively burning during the recent surge.

During times like these, the church has an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus..."

Northwest Fire Response:
As fires continue to impact Spokane and its surrounding communities, our hearts are heavy for those experiencing loss and insecurity. At the same time, many others in our region face similar devastating losses caused by wildfires.

UCC Adventist Community Services is working alongside local churches, community partners, and emergency response agencies to care for those affected by fires. We appreciate all those who have already reached out asking how to support relief efforts. As many fires are ongoing, so is our response. NEWS: Hundreds Baptized During UCC Evangelistic Caravan

“Try with Jesus” was the rallying cry of the evangelistic caravan, which took place in nine different locations across Upper Columbia Conference from April 17–25, 2026.

NEWS: Shafer Named Director of Information & Technology Services

During a meeting of the Upper Columbia Conference executive committee held May 7, 2026, Tim Shafer was appointed as director of Information and Technology Services following former director Art Lenz’s retirement. Shafer has served as Associate IT director for UCC since 2020.

NEWS: Brower Named Director of Community Engagement

During a meeting of the Upper Columbia Conference executive committee held May 7, 2026, Richie Brower was appointed as director of the recently formed community engagement department.

This department brings together three service-oriented ministries — Adventist Community Services, disaster response and the Serve One More initiative — under Brower’s direction.
