Here’s Miles Davis’ “Blue In Green”, such a beautiful yet haunting tune. Going for sound rather than technique: what’s more important to you? To IG? To the World🌎?

Here’s a little loose improvisation after lots of practice today on fundamentals and classical material rather than jazz for a solid foundation and technique! I’m playing sideman all month on a variety of gigs in Spokane and Seattle! Unfortunately no ITG for me this year, maybe next. To see what’s up check www.jaredhall.net 🕸️ JH🎺

I'm having funhanging out at the 2026 giving workshops today after adjudicating all day yesterday! 🎶

Here's a glimpse of my workshop called "The Art of Jazz Transcription," where I take students through my process step by step to learn a solo by ear and extract the vocabulary to help their improvisation. This is a .official line 2-5-1 to learn in all 12 keys that I am reviewing! 🔑

Here's another glimpse of the last hit, performing "Alter Ego" by - one of my biggest influences! Being the final piece of the evening, I'm trying to form a vibe✨️ on this tune, which may be too hip for the room 😅 JH🎺

PS. Follow my IG stories for practice tips and routines 🏋‍♂️

Such a blast playing hard bop tunes w/ .jazz.spokane quintet into the late evening yesterday! We appreciate all who attended. Here's a taste with Cedar Walton's "Hindsight"! 🎹 w🎺

Here’s another snippet from a few months ago, our opening tune of the night, Cole Porter’s classic “I Love You’ 💕Looking forward to performing with the .jazz.spokane quintet this Monday 7pm to 9pm with a jam session to follow! Feeling inspired by a new friend and amazing trumpeter after an incredible performance at the Trumpet Festival yesterday! Hope to see folks from the local scene, friends, and aspiring students make the hang! JH🎺

Super long day today with lots of teaching both classes and lessons, meeting with prospective students and parents, trumpet sectionals for a festival, emails, program prep, jazz festival bookings….. you get the gist. Here’s Blue Mitchell’s famous 251 line on the tune “I Wish I Knew” moving in descending whole steps, then pivoting into the new key up a half step, and ascending in whole steps. Far from perfect, but a needed review and always a constant work in progress. What are you working on and checking out? How is the shed treating you friends? JH🎺

Here's a glimpse from the shed after a day of 🎺 coaching, prep for the 2nd half of the semester, exercise 💪🏻, and two years of CV updates 📃 😅

This is bar four of the Bird 🐦 tune "Blues for Alice" in All 12 Keys to extract language from the bebop idiom! It dials in technique, focus, visualization, and the ears to another level.

Loving the TurboWood on the chops after 4+ hrs of playing yesterday! 🐣✨️
