As we're processing all of the photos from the Jorvik Tattoo Moot, I thought I'd reshare this raven chest piece with you 🌀⁠

This is one of my favourite projects to date, with an ornamental chest raven that flows down to a huge blast-over on the upper arm. This project is still far from finished, but that's the reality of large tattoo projects. ⁠

The Mightiest of the Gods 🌀⁠

I briefly mentioned in yesterday's post how the focus of this design was on the raw physical power of Thor as he hoists the Midgard serpent from the sea. ⁠

As such, I illustrated him as a huge, muscular beast with an aura of fierce, unwavering stoicism 🗿⁠
⁠
This is a man of duty, focus & willpower. One who will happily give his life to rid the 9 realms of this ever-imposing threat. Perhaps he failed due to coincidence, but fate is written and unavoidable in the Norse Myths. ⁠

Of all the horrors in the deep ocean, nothing evokes fear and terror into the hearts of all quite like Jormungandr 🌀⁠

At least that's the case until Thor decides to go for a swim 😏 ⁠

This tattoo is a take on the tale of Thor fishing for the Midgard Serpent, with a slight twist. All of the depictions of this my are clear that after baiting the serpent with the head of an Ox, Thor will attempt [unsuccessfully] to crush the beast using Mjollnir. ⁠

I wanted to do something different with this design though, placing the focus on the raw strength of the thunder god by having him hoist the serpent up with his bare hands. ⁠

It was a super exciting design to immortalise into Thane's leg, and I'd love your thoughts on the result ❤️⁠

This is an older tattoo of mine, but very reminiscent of a few projects I had the pleasure of creating in York. I was slightly bummed out that & I never found a client for our epic Thor backpiece, but everything happens for a reason. ⁠

I met and tattooed some wonderful people, and I really cannot wait to show you everything. The journey home was long and tiring, but you'll be seeing all of the projects very shortly ❤️⁠

Did I mention that I tattooed my social media guy? 👀 Now finally can stop writing about how painful tattoos are, as he experienced first hand that they don't need to be 🤫⁠

I'm headed home 🌀 And I'd just like to extend a sincere, heartfelt farewell to everyone who attended the Jorvik Tattoo Moot ❤️⁠

I can't even begin to describe just how wonderful this week has been. I've met and tattooed alongside many of the greats, and the event was just a resounding success for everyone. ⁠

I have a long journey ahead of me back to the states, and it'll take a little while to settle back to normal life and process all of the projects I worked on. I'll be showing you everything as soon as possible 😁⁠

The team at absolutely crushed it. They created such an inviting and comfortable event space, and were very involved throughout the entirety of the three days, making sure all of the artists were booked & busy!⁠
