Sunset Highway Farm
We are a big family with a small farm located a mile off the Sunset Highway in Spokane, Washington.
In addition to enjoying incredible sunsets, we practice rotational grazing, no till, regenerative farming.

This is our 3rd year growing & harvesting peppers indoors under regular cheap shop lights. It works 🤷♀️
If you grow the in 2-3 gallon pots, you can keep them outside all summer and then bring the pots in for winter and continue eating fresh peppers all winter long 👌
The best varieties are the smaller, more compact options like jalapeños, bell peppers and cherry peppers. We find that a lot of the hot peppers like poblano, paprika and Anaheim get a bit too big and it is harder to make space for them indoors.
Canning season is almost here!
Now is the time to learn & to gather supplies… we’re giving away our canning course {for free} through the month of May.
It’s everything you need to know start to finish to get into canning and we teach how to preserve fruits without artificial preservatives or sugar 👌

The broadfork is one of the best investments we’ve made in our garden. If I was starting over, this would be one of the first things I’d buy.
This is not an ad, I’m just a happy customer of that appreciates having a tool so well made, I’ll never have to buy a replacement 👌
My particular broadfork is the “Market Gardener 30” wide 7 tine” broadfork with steel handles
There are also smaller, lighter and cheaper options available to fit whatever body and garden type you have
It’s not too late to plant brassicas (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, spinach, etc)
The key is picking the right variety for when you want to HARVEST.
Plant a heat tolerant variety now and you will be harvesting it late July/early August.
OR plant a cold tolerant variety in July and harvest in October/November.
Or do both!
We typically plant garlic in October or November and then harvest in July, so brassicas are the perfect crop to fill the “gap” in the garlic beds from July-October. We plant some cold tolerant varieties of broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage and some years we are able to harvest them as late as January 🤯
Jake’s compost brooder has been a game changer 👌
Get yourself a stirrup hoe 👌
