Our Father, Richard Everett Kincaid, a WWII veteran; was a true-blue lover of trains, and a life-long employee of the Great Northern Railroad, which later in the early '60s, became known as Burlington Northern Railroad. This love of trains was transferred to all of us as small children, and naturally we grew up with the train set and all of the associated toys and paraphanelia. It was a great chil

dhood. As we all grew older, for me, that passion grew into automobiles, aircraft, ships, travel and the innovators and dreamers who first dreamed an idea and then designed, built, and ultimately sold and marketed these new inventions to a burgeoning middle class in an emerging superpower. Early print advertising in America is a mirror to that emerging middle class--who's parents and grandparents literally came west on horseback and covered wagons, that went on to grow up in the days of Edison,the Wright Brothers,Henry Ford and within their own lifetime, witness on television the Apollo Moon landings in that summer of 1969. I was four years old at the time; but I remember it like it was yesterday. Gathered around our then new RCA color television, not one of us kids got much sleep that night. We just watched two American heroes plant the Stars and Stripes on a foreign world, and the race to colonize the galaxy was now a real possibility. For a kid who grew up on the Jetsons, flying cars were just around the corner! Rainbow and cracked fairy chimney in Cappadocia, Turkey. A setting for one of the strangest landscapes in the world, the region's deep valleys and soaring rock formations are of volcanic origin, slowly eroding away to create the strange "Fairy Chimneys" (so called because locals thought they were so magical and extraordinary that only fairies could have created them). Many of these fairy chimneys have been hollowed out by industrious ancient people, who created homes, chapels, tombs and pigeon houses from the soft, easy-to-carve rock. They also tunneled below, creating underground cities, some 8 stories down.
