Prototype tip from Tweeten I tried out two or three years ago. I think they were going to call it a "Triangle Pro".

Nobody likes "Hairy Tips" but its actually what makes a tip good and makes a tip hold chalk nice.

It never changed shape or mushroomed during the 100 racks of 8 ball.

I got my Meucci Originals finished last night and got to shoot a few racks with it and it took me a minute but noticed something odd when shooting with the Meucci compared to my playing cue I built.

I was on the 9' table and I remember thinking "I hate how this cue is so short" because my player is 60.5".

I was going back and forth comparing the hit of the two and all the sudden it dawned on me that when I changed out the handle on the Meucci, I made it 1-1/4" longer and the shaft is the same length so its also 60.5" long. ... So pretty much the same exact length cue, same weight and even the same exact balance point yet the Meucci feels considerably shorter when stretched out on a shot.

The only variable left is the way I taper my cues. I make the joint larger than normal and the bumper end smaller than normal to minimize the amount of taper in order to make it feel more comfortable no matter when you're gripping the cue.

I've always hated a cue that feels like a baseball bat when you're stretched out on a shot which was the main reason for the dimensions I use.

I think going back to a traditionally tapered butt was tricking my brain into thinking the cue wasn't long enough because of the awareness of my handing being all the way back because its so much larger than my normal hand position. My style of taper makes you feel not stretched out as much and that you still have plenty of cue behind your hand making you feel like its longer.

A buddy of mine made the comment "I like how your cue is longer than this one" which is what made me think about it and realize they were actually the same length.

These are the type of things that interest me about "Cue Engineering" and make it interesting.

Pool is such a mental game and its amazing how something you'd never think would change your mindset during a shot could make the difference in making a ball or not. If you feel all stretched out and uncomfortable on a shot you have negative thoughts in the back of your mind and odds are you'll miss the shot or at least not have he confidence/comfort that you might need to make the shot and get shape.

Taom Fusion. They're supposed to be "Hard and Grippy" according to Mika Immonen and I like a harder tip so here goes.

I've been slowly getting in some odds and ends to test out. I have no idea what this chalk is supposed to be but I don't remember it being real cheap but I've also never heard of it so at least that makes an interesting.

It seems pretty fine and dry,... Even more so than Triangle Pro, Blue Diamond or Russian Magic Chalk and comes in a super cool plastic case. I'll mess around with it this weekend

Needed a quick cue rack in the pool room Pro Shop to hold cues I'm working on so made one out of some Baltic Birch plywood scraps.

I still have my first real cue from back in 1987. About 7 years ago I had Meucci fix the handle that had warped and make it Bocote handle instead of Irish Linen.

I decided a few weeks back to chop it up and make it a segmented cross-cut Bocote handle instead with a partial carbon fiber core, a cross-cut Bocote Hybrid Carbon Fiber Shaft and G-10 3/8-10 modified pin. I'm waiting on clear so it'll have to wait until Monday to seal and clear.
