Thrilled for our new partnership with Torrington Area Families for Autism-TAFA !

🥳Exciting news!
When we say that we truly take in, listen to and prioritize action on every need we hear from local families, this is what we mean 😊
One of the most common calls to our Common-Unity center is parents looking for behavioral/ ABA support for their children. Due to barriers like our rural geography and limited HUSKY providers, parents in crisis often face lengthy waitlists to even start conversations with BCBA’s on how to support their child’s needs.
Due to an exciting partnership with Nick Lucatino, M.S. BCBA, LBA-CT; founder and Executive Director of Inclusive Pathways Project LLC and generous grant support from United Way Northwest Connecticut we will be able to provide 10 families with 5 one-hour 1:1 virtual BCBA coaching/ consult sessions individualized to their concern/ need at absolutely no cost. We will also have Spanish translation available for Spanish-speaking families looking to access this opportunity. These sessions will allow parents to receive immediate, highly individualized clinical feedback on how to support the unique needs in their home through an easily accessible online format. This is what removing barriers to accessibility and equity looks like in action 😊
We are so thankful to be a part of the amazing northwest CT community, and to be surrounded by wonderful partnerships and collaborations who truly help us achieve our mission and support our local children and families to the best of our ability. Thank you again to the team at United Way of Northwest CT for believing in the importance of funding this program ❤️🧩

Huge thank you to in Oxford, CT for hosting us today for an awesome job shadow experience! We had the chance to learn about the world of car detailing, see the process up close, and explore an incredibly cool shop. We are so grateful for caring community partners like Buonauto Enterprises who take the time to create meaningful learning opportunities for the individuals we support. 🚗✨

My final stop this week was at Crystal Springs School in Assonet, MA, where they support individuals with severe to profound developmental disabilities. One thing that really stood out was how integrated their nursing and medical services are throughout the campus. Walking through the grounds felt more like walking through a neighborhood than a traditional program setting. My favorite stops were definitely their beautiful indoor pool and adapted tree house!

This morning I got out to in Brewster, MA and learned more about their work supporting students with Prader-Willi Syndrome. The school places a large emphasis on health and fitness, and it’s clear how intentionally that’s built into the day-to-day experience for students.
