Say hi to !

Meet one of our newest members with a menu that focuses on gourmet cast-iron chicken with Dominican flavor. Their chicken is marinated for 24 hours, and one of their goals is to promote Maine’s rich history as the “Chicken Capital of the World”. 🐓

They’ve already made waves with their food in Bangor and Hampden, and this summer are hoping to help greater Portland fall in love with their fare. They focus exclusively on chicken, with the slogan “We only do one thing, and we do it better than anyone”! They're also available to make your catered events extra delicious!

Stay tuned & give them a follow so you never miss an opportunity to try them out this season, including at and Summer Sunsets this Friday!

The Local Food Switchboard beta site is LIVE!

The Local Food Switchboard is a food supply chain coordination platform that connects Maine's food system to buy and sell local foods more easily. It streamlines and verifies procurement data and logistics while providing tailored support. By shifting from competition to coordination, the platform builds reliable market connections, and a more equitable, resilient, and relationship-based food system.

Businesses and organizations across Maine’s food system are invited to sign up and contribute their information to help grow the database. By joining, users can start using Live Listings to share details about their products, services, and more. With Live Listings, users can exchange time-sensitive information about needs and offerings for product, supplies, logistical support, storage space, etc.; think classifieds or Facebook Marketplace, but for the food system! As a “beta” platform, it will continue to evolve with user input and feedback.

HERE'S WHAT TO DO:
1. Go to localfoodswitchboard.org
2. Sign up for an account.
3. Create a profile for your business or organization A PROFILE
4. While awaiting your profile’s approval, you can create live listings (they’ll go public once your profile is approved) and explore the switchboard.
5. Spread the word! Help populate the switchboard

Share your feedback! Fill out the online feedback form, send an email ([email protected]), or drop in during virtual "office hours." Check out the Contact/Feedback page.

On Friday, March 27 sent a letter to urging them to adopt a Maine-First Sourcing Policy, on the heels of a public statement by Hannaford about a carrot shortage in stores while Maine-grown carrots are abundantly available. ⠀

They replied, and MOFGA is meeting with them on April 16th to discuss. 🥳

A Maine-First Sourcing Policy means committing to sourcing Maine-grown carrots (and other foods) before turning to out-of-state suppliers to fill any gaps. It also means offering sustainable contracts to farmers that reflect the true cost of local production.⠀

Sign MOFGA’s petition to show Hannaford that you want local Maine-grown food for sale on their shelves. The petition will be delivered to Hannaford during their meeting on April 16th. Sign Here ➡️⠀https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/hannaford-adopt-a-maine-first-sourcing-policy?source=direct_link&
