Before design begins, our team starts by understanding the site.
Site visits reveal the details that aerials, surveys, and plans can miss, from drainage and access to circulation, visibility, vegetation, materials, and maintenance needs. At JPR, strong concepts begin with observation, technical understanding, client goals, and the realities of the place itself.

A great night out at the South Bend Cubs game with the JPR team. Good company, good weather, and a little time together outside the office made for a fun Friday night.

Before attending the INASLA Awards Gala last week, JPR's Landscape Architecture team took some time to explore parks and public spaces around the Indianapolis area. Field visits like these allow our designers to experience different site furnishings and play equipment firsthand, observe how people interact with these finished spaces, and gather ideas that can inspire future projects.
These experiences help our team stay current, creative, and connected to the communities we serve. They're also a great reminder that some of the best ideas come from getting out into the field, learning from great places, and exploring together!

Designed for days like this. We're excited to see the splash pad at Four Winds Field helping South Bend Cubs fans beat the heat!
Stadiums host the match. Cities host the memory. As North America prepares for global events like the 2026 World Cup, we’re thinking about the spaces that shape the visitor experience beyond the venue: shaded sidewalks, active streetscapes, welcoming plazas, intuitive wayfinding, outdoor dining areas, parks, and places to gather before and after the main event. At JPR, our work often focuses on these in-between spaces — the public realm that connects people to destinations, neighborhoods, and each other.

Strong communities are built when every voice has a chance to be heard.
In our latest blog, we highlight the importance of meaningful community engagement — how listening, collaboration, and inclusive outreach shape better plans and stronger connections. This is demonstrated through our “Your City. Your Voice.” campaign for the Defiance (OH) Parks & Riverfront Master Plan.
