“Kelly On The Edge Of The Tub”

5/24/2026
24x36

Oil. Oil Stick. Graphite.
On Printmaking Paper.

With this one I was trying to create weight without using all solid forms.
Most of the artists I admire use line or negative space to create weight in a form.
I started it very open and I got a little carried away with the yellows.
All of the white is blank paper.
Adding the sink and green shelves settled it down a bit.
About a week of looking at this one and adding a little every night.
It’s enjoyable enough.
Yeah.

“Lemon Tree At Night”

5/24/2026
24x36

Oil. Oil Stick. Conte. China Marker
On Printmaking Paper.

This one is nice and light.
It is mostly the white of the paper.
Again I am using dirty brushes and linseed oil to spread out some conte and go over ChinaMarker.
The only full colors are the greens of the wall behind the tree and the neutral white shadows on the ground.
I enjoy this one for its openness, only lit by the ambient light and sky.
My brainhole is a cl*******ck right now and these works on paper have been a bit of breathing room.

Good Luck Out There.
Rest Up.
KEEP FIGHTING.

“Large As***le In Big Hat Packing Up The Big Room”
(Without Glasses)

6/7/2026
30x40

Oil. Oil Stick. Charcoal. Conte.
On Canvas

Started this LATE/early Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Slept a bit and started to see the face.
Packed up some boxes and then went at it.
I needed to finish this to clear my head.
Painting helps me with anxiety and stress and all the messed up s**t floating around.
Felt good to get this out and feel a bit lighter.
Not 100% accurate, but neither am I.

F**k S**t Up This Week.

“Kelly On The Edge Of The Tub”

7/26/2025 - 5/31/2026
18x24

Oil. Oil Stick. China Marker. Paint Marker.
On Canvas.

This canvas was started last summer while visiting some family.
It was a short visit, but super fun.
I brought a few canvases to work on, but they were mostly false starts, just something to keep my brain from eating itself.
Moving stuff in the big room I found them again and it showed itself.
A lot of the movement was there I just had to substitute the colors.
I added a few more spaces to ground it and it seems to work.
Really loving that neutral white.

Good Luck Out There.

“Kelly On The Edge Of The Tub”
(Andover Mountains)

6/18/25 - 5/1/2026
24x48

Oil. Oil Stick.
On Found Framed Masonite.

I found this framed mountain scene on the side of the road when we were visiting my Aunt and Uncle last summer.
I saw it on the way there and it was still there on our way back, fortunately Kelly saw a mirror and wanted to stop anyways.
I painted the black gesture before bed that night I got it home and that was the start of the battle.
I love painting on these old framed landscapes, mostly for the size and the frame, but also for what the already painted image lends to it.
I try not to totally over paint them, so if you are really looking you can see the original details.
I kept the painting as open as I could.
I blocked out most original details I painted after I started to see that broader areas of color were better for the frame.
I finished this one on the morning of open studios, hung it wet, and a bird pooped on it.
Done.
You can still see the mountains if you rotate it counter clockwise.

“Early Morning Bouquet”

2/30/2026
24x36

Oil. Oil Stick. China Marker
On Printmaking Paper.

This one showed up while trying to finish up a commission.
I needed to go backwards in the painting and was scraping excess paint off to clear a path.
This one is all excess paint, some white ChinaMarker, and linseed oil, but mostly just blank page.
Plenty of movement and some nice corners to hide in.
Definitely helped me get that commission finished “in time” with the good brain blood flowing from this one.

Good Luck Out There.

“Fawn At Dawn”

5/25/2026
24x36

Oil. Linseed Oil.
On Printmaking Paper.

This one showed up early morning when I was cleaning some brushes.
Using just what was on the paintbrush in the linseed oil.
Had to work quick cause I didn’t want to add any other paint.
A One Shot Deal.
Very Immediate and the paper absorbed the oil QUICK.
It started as a beach scene and then the fawn showed up.
Airy and Open.
I really enjoy it.

Hope You Have A Decent Start To The Week.

“Mold On Lemon With Paint Tubes And Shadow”

2/14/2026
18x24

Oil. Oil Stick. Charcoal. Conte. China Marker
On Printmaking Paper.

Last of the works on paper from Vacation.
Attempting to work quickly from life and not get too stuck on all the details.
Some lemons from under the tree against materials I was using.
This one was an attempt to loosen up my brain.
I was happy that it still looked decent when I unpacked it.
It was fun trying to capture the mold.
I like Lemons.
I really like Lemon Trees.

“Kelly Reading”

2/13/2026
18x24

Oil. Oil Stick. Charcoal. Conte. China Marker
On Printmaking Paper.

From February, on paper.
Kelly in her element, reading in the garden.
Consumer of knowledge and almonds.
I was just trying to catch the movement of the light and pose simply.
What I lack in technical proficiency I can usually substitute color to get the point across just as well.
I enjoy this one.
My brain is s**t right now and anxiety is maxed out, looking back to these pieces from February are a bit of a help.

Good Luck Out There.
