Float Boston
Flotation & Cryotherapy in Magoun Square, Somerville. We are the people's float center; competitive pricing, great services, friendly no-pressure environment.
We're right on the green line, plenty of affordable street parking. A float tank is a small shallow pool filled with water nearly saturated with Epsom salt, so it's dense like the Dead Sea. You float completely effortlessly. The tank is kept warm, body temperature, and it's enclosed so it's completely dark and quiet. It's your own private world. It's utterly relaxing.

This one's personal for me. Back in my 20s, I got migraines so severe my nose would bleed. They got bad enough that I ended up having a CAT scan done. The scan came back clear—they never found a cause—and eventually the headaches faded on their own. But I've never forgotten how completely debilitating they were. When you're in the grip of one, the whole world shrinks down to the pain. You can't think, can't work, can't function. You just want it to stop.
So if you're someone who deals with this—whether it's the occasional brutal headache or chronic migraines that steal entire days—I see you. It's so much more than "just a headache."
While there's no single fix, a lot of people find that managing their triggers helps, and stress is one of the biggest. That's where floating can offer some relief:
🌑 Total darkness and quiet remove the light and sound that so often make headaches worse
🌊 Weightless floating takes pressure off the neck, shoulders, and spine—common tension spots
💆 Magnesium-rich Epsom salt water surrounds you (magnesium is often studied in connection with headache relief)
🧠 Deep relaxation helps calm the stress that can trigger tension headaches
For anyone carrying the weight of a stressful week in their head and shoulders, an hour of stillness in the dark can be a real reset.
As always, floating isn't a substitute for medical care—if you deal with chronic or severe migraines, your doctor is your best resource. But as part of a bigger stress-management routine, a little quiet can go a long way. 💜
If you've battled migraines too, I'd love to hear what's helped you—drop it in the comments. 💬

I'll be the first to admit it: I'm not great at taking care of my own health. Running FloatBoston means there's always one more thing to fix, build, plan, or follow up on. Work and life pile up, and "slow down" usually ends up at the bottom of the list. I'm the guy who needs the reminder to stop, breathe, and stop stressing so much.
So this one's as much for me as it is for you.
Men are notoriously good at pushing through and putting their health last—skipping the checkup, ignoring the stress, powering through the exhaustion. But running on empty catches up with all of us eventually.
This month is a good reminder that taking care of yourself isn't a luxury. It's maintenance. A few things worth doing:
🩺 Book the checkup you've been putting off
😴 Protect your sleep like it's part of the job
🌊 Carve out real downtime—even an hour of stillness counts
🧠 Talk to someone if stress or your mood has been weighing on you
For me, floating is one of the few times I actually disconnect. No phone, no to-do list, no problem to solve—just an hour of quiet that forces me to slow down. If you're someone who struggles to switch off too, maybe it's worth a try.
Take care of yourself this month. You're no good to anyone running on empty. 💙

Floating is about coming exactly as you are. No expectations, no judgment, no need to be anything other than yourself. Just you, weightless and at peace.
That's true every single day of the year—but this June, we want to say it out loud: FloatBoston is a space where everyone belongs. Every body, every identity, every person who walks through our door deserves rest, calm, and a place to simply be.
The float tank doesn't care who you are or who you love. It just holds you. And so do we. 🏳️🌈
Happy Pride. 💙

Last few days of better sleep month, how did you sleep?
Everybody knows that floating helps not only your REM sleep, but overall sleep quality and how long you sleep but there are many other things we can do to get a better nights sleep.
Reducing caffeine, alcohol, and other stimulants, turning our phones (better yet, all screens) off an hour or two before bed, massage therapy, and even something simple like chamomile tea before bed.
Don't let May be the only month you focus on your sleep, your body needs it.

Boston Pride is here! 🏳️🌈 Save some recovery for Sunday.
Saturday, June 6th, the city comes alive—the parade from Copley to Boston Common, the festival, the block party that runs late into the evening. It's a full, joyful, exhausting day in the best way.
And if you're planning to be out there celebrating? Your body's going to feel it. Hours on your feet, all that dancing, the sun, the energy of a million people. 🌞
That's where we come in. After the parade, let us help you recover:
🌊 Float away the aches from a full day on your feet
😌 Decompress and recharge before Monday hits
💆 Let tired muscles soak in magnesium-rich Epsom salt
🧘 Trade the crowds and noise for total quiet and calm
Whether you want to prep your body before the big day or melt into the tank after, we've got you. Celebrate hard—then let us help you recover. 🏳️🌈
Happy Pride, Boston. We're proud to be part of this community. 💙
