2025 Rogers Scholar Kiley Hall of Johnson County has made a lasting impact through her community service project by offering free tutoring to elementary students struggling in reading and math.

From the beginning of the school year in August through May, Kiley and a friend met weekly with 15 students at W.R. Castle Elementary School, helping them strengthen their reading skills and build confidence in math.

“This project has meant the world to me as I have gotten to know the kids and work with them,” Kiley said. “I look forward to seeing them every day and loved teaching them new things.”

As part of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program, all graduates are required to complete a community service project within one year of finishing the program.

For her community service project, 2025 Rogers Scholar Ansley Lipps wanted to make Easter a special and memorable time for children in Clay County.

With the help of generous community donations, Ansley provided Easter baskets to children living with their parents at Freedom House. She also organized an Easter egg hunt for the children and donated any remaining Easter baskets to VOA Recovery Community Center.

“Growing up in Clay County, I have seen the damage caused by addiction,” Ansley said. “That’s why I wanted to do something special for children whose parents are dealing with addiction.”

As part of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program, all graduates are required to complete a community service project within one year of finishing the program.
