Huge shout out to Ty Harris and Matt Wielbut for their insane grind in the insurance space through Openly, Inc!
When they first "hit the map"....the industry was buzzing about their 5-question quoting experience...with option to bind.
But.
There's always a but.
I'm more impressed with where they're going next.
"The same experience agents have in quoting - that level of seamlessness - we want that in running endorsements, processing cancellations or renewals too. Why does an agent need to login to our site to do that? Why don't we just push that info to them in real-time?"
Rethinking the service experience too?!
80% of an agency's expense is stuck in carrier portals, email, PDF ACORD apps, etc.
Ugh.
Just ugh.
If you can get an insurance quote in 5 questions and bind it on the spot....imagine how much easier (read: cheaper...faster) they could make servicing a policy.
I really could hug them both.

"revenue per employee" is DEAD.
if you're still using it, you aren't measuring the true expense (and true profitability) of your service department.
also.... Carey Bell Wallace's lighting game is so on point! look at that perfectly placed backlight! impressed.
so pumped to have you on dude.
this was a fun one!

Question for you.
How do you measure the profitability of your agency's service department?
I ask this question on almost every neon call.
Here's the answer I typically get:
*pause*
"We......can't?"
Product-based companies are lucky in this way....the math is more concrete.
For service-based companies....it's tough.
Most do mental gymnastics around salaries.
But breaking down the math into more granular metrics? With an agency management system that only tracks "tasks" and "activities"? And makes reporting feel like beating your head against a wall?
Good luck.
Wait....no....screw luck.
Meet Dan Chadwell, COO of Wilber-Price Insurance Group, instead.

You don’t bring on a new CEO unless you’re looking to set a new strategic vision.
What is that vision?
How will they actualize it?
And most importantly…why?

Spike Lipkin built a $500MM insurance agency…that is not a lifestyle business.
He walked into insurance just a few years ago looking to solve the tech, data and connectivity issues that could, honestly, kill us as an industry.
