I miss this sport so much, but I’m grateful that I still get to live it through the young athletes who continue putting on the Socorro jersey. It’s always a pleasure watching the next generation carry on that tradition and represent our community with pride. Keep an eye on the 2027 Socorro High School football team because they’re looking meaner than ever and ready to make some noise.”

Let’s talk about water for a moment:
Although the City of Socorro does not own or operate the water utility service, I want our residents to know that these interruptions and concerns are also being addressed by your local government. We have been in communication regarding these ongoing issues because our community deserves transparency, accountability, and timely communication when service disruptions occur.

These interruptions have affected families, businesses, and even our local schools. Our residents deserve better, and we will continue working to ensure your voices are heard and your concerns are taken seriously.

As Mayor, I remain committed to advocating for our community and pushing for improved communication and solutions that protect the quality of life of the people of Socorro.

Last week I was invited to Eastlake Middle School’s Career Day, and what an amazing group of students they have. It was a privilege to speak with future leaders and share my experiences with them. Thank you to the staff and administrators for the invitation and for the work you do each day to inspire and guide our youth. Investing in our students today helps build a stronger tomorrow.

Representing the City of Socorro, Texas!
Today we’re here at the Race Against Human Trafficking to help raise awareness and support efforts that provide hope, healing, and resources to victims. Human trafficking impacts communities everywhere, and it takes all of us working together to make a difference.

By standing together, raising awareness, and supporting organizations dedicated to this cause, we can help protect the vulnerable and bring light to an issue that often goes unseen.

What an amazing event hosted by Project Vida right here in our great City of Socorro, Texas. It was wonderful to see the Campanario Ballroom filled with families, residents, and community partners coming together to serve and support our community. From free giveaways and raffle prizes to live performances and delicious food, there was truly something for everyone to enjoy.

Events like these remind us of the importance of community and the impact we can make when organizations, businesses, and residents come together for a common purpose. Thank you to Project Vida, all of our community partners, performers, volunteers, and everyone who participated in making this event such a success.

Together, we continue building a stronger and more connected Socorro.

The Rural Mayors Meeting is an important opportunity to bring together municipalities and towns from across our region to collaborate, share ideas, and strengthen partnerships. I’m proud that we can come together, engage in healthy debate and meaningful discussion, and work toward positive change for all of our communities.

Thank you to General Taylor of Fort Bliss for joining us and sharing valuable insight and leadership. And a special thank you to Mayor Johnson’s office for hosting this important gathering and helping foster regional cooperation and progress.

As always, my office has an open-door policy to meet with our residents, address concerns, and answer any questions. Serving our community starts with being accessible, listening, and working together to find solutions.
