The thing about painting owl feathers is…they are super fluffy. Each feather takes hours because I need to take care to preserve the fluffy edge while building up the layers. These are great horned owl feathers in progress, only the primary feather is finished.

I’m finally painting again and this time it’s BIG

I’m waiting (not very patiently) for my tomatoes to come in. Last year we only got a small handful so I hope we get more this year.

Summer vibes

2 years ago I ordered the wrong size cards and envelopes. I was so irritated by this accidental waste of money I set them on my shelf and ignored them. A week ago I had a sudden vision of notecards with original artwork on them so I gave it a go and I ♥️ them! I’m going to get a batch together and have them soon out in Snohomish.

I always get very excited when painting and try to add ALL the colors. Yesterday I remembered I have a solution to solve that. When I sat down to paint, I closed my eyes, reached into my Color Cube by and pulled this palette out. These pen and ink/watercolor fusion art pieces have been swimming around in my head these last 6 months I’ve been in school, and it is so much fun letting them out. atercolorArt

Want to know what I DIDN’T miss these last 6 months while I was in school? Marketing. Honestly, I hate the marketing side of running a business. So I’ve shifted my goals away from growth to simply maintaining my businesses. There’s enough stuff in this world, I’m not going to try to convince you that my stuff is going to solve your problems or bring you the happiness you are looking for. I AM going to continue to find my joy and spark in art that makes me happy. I’ll still be maintaining my Etsy shop and in person products . I’m also going to start offering my original artwork alongside my prints. With the rise of AI I’m drawn back to the tangible, physical process of pen scratching on paper and the watercolor pooling and drying into beautiful, random grains of color.

I’m almost done with my Bachelors of Science and I’m so happy I took the risk and went back to school. Originally I was majoring in Wildlife Science 21 years ago when life caught up with me and I never finished. My husband was supportive then and he is supportive now, and now my son and I are in college together. ♥️ I’m looking forward to creating art again after I graduate 🎓🎉! 🎓
