This amazing architectural wonder created by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 Paris Exposition challenged American architects to create an equally impressive structure for the 1893 Columbia Exposition in Chicago. That challenge was met by George W.G. Ferris jr., a structural steel engineer whose invention of a giant rotating observation wheel is known today as the “Ferris Wheel.”

I’ve finally begun this process with all my family photos (including scrapbooks). I’ve scanned them into files organized by name then date. When I’m finished, I will load them on flash drives and give them to my kids, relatives, local historical societies, etc.
